I've had my car for about seven years now and the leather seats are really showing their age, especially the driver's side where I get in and out every day. The bolsters are cracked, the color has faded to a weird grayish shade instead of the original tan, and there are some areas where the top layer is actually peeling off. I've tried using those leather conditioners you buy at the auto shop but honestly they don't seem to do much, just make it shiny for a day or two before going back to looking tired. I'm not sure if I should be looking at getting the leather repaired and recolored, or if I should just bite the bullet and get new seat covers entirely. I'd really prefer to keep the original seats if possible because I've heard aftermarket covers never fit quite right and can interfere with the side airbags, which is obviously a safety concern. I work near the industrial area so I was looking for a place that could do proper restoration work rather than just a quick fix. I came across a place that offers a Genuine car leather and fabric upholstery service in Musaffah Industrial and they seem to specialize in this kind of restoration, but I'm not sure how much can actually be fixed on seats that are as worn as mine. Has anyone here had leather seats restored rather than replaced, and how did the results turn out? I'm particularly concerned about whether the color match will be accurate and whether the repaired areas will crack again after a few months. Also, any idea what kind of cost I'd be looking at for proper restoration versus new covers? I don't want to spend a fortune but I also don't want to waste money on a temporary fix that won't last. Any advice from people who've been through this would be really appreciated.
